When my best friend held her baby shower I was lost as to what to buy her for a gift. I knew she would be spoiled by family and did not want to duplicate or buy something unhelpful.
I decided on an unusual gift- a post partum hamper for her. I figured this would include lots of useful things that others would not think to buy her and she may not even know she needs. I actually ended up making myself one too.
I bought a beautiful box to store it all in which i figured could later be used as a toy box. I collated all the items and wrote her a list of them and their uses.
It may not be the most glamorous gift but it was super helpful and thoughtful and I know it was appreciated.
In it I included:
Paracetamol
Ibuprofen
Stool softeners- glamorous I know- but you never know how you will feel after birth!
Maternity pads
Breast pads
Nipple cream
Disposable underwear
Vaseline
A bottle for pouring water on your hoo-hah while you pee
2 heat pads, one for cold one for warm
Aloe Vera Gel and Witch Hazel- to make padsicles to pop in the freezer
Puppy training pads- for the bed for the first few nights home.
So if you are ever stuck for a baby shower gift- I highly recommend doing this! It is unusual but super helpful and will be remembered.
